American Cancer Society Programs

PATIENT NAVIGATION The American Cancer Society Patient Navigator Program proceeds support and guidance to patients and caregivers through the cancer journey. In North Texas, our site-based navigators at four separate hospitals help patients overcome treatment barriers, thus improving patient access to care and quality of life. Support is available by phone or in person. More than 3,670 North Texas patients, may whom are medically underserved, received Navigation support in 2013. |
PATIENT TRANSPORTATION Cancer patients miss or forgo potentially life-saving treatments because they cannot afford transportation, are too ill to drive themselves to their treatments or do not know anyone who can drive them. All of the great medical advances are useless if the patients cannot get to their treatments. The American Cancer Society helps patients stay on the road to recovery by offering personalize transportation solutions, including daily rides, bus passes and taxi vouchers. In 2013, we provided more than 10,400 rides to North Texas cancer patients. The 2015 funding needs in North Texas for this program will exceed $90,000. |

JUNIOR CATTLE BARON'S BALL Families with a child battling cancer have a unique set of circumstances and challenges. To help ease that burden and allow the families to have a special respite from treatments and stress, the Cattle Baron's Ball Committee hosts a joyful daytime Junior Cattle Baron's Ball for pediatric patients and their families. The entire event is free to the pediatric patients and their families and allows them to focus on family rather than medicine. |
GENERAL DONATION A general donation to Cattle Baron's Ball will benefit American Cancer Society-funded cancer research programs, many of which are here in North Texas. |
